KIRTAN
Sing Your True Heart’s Song with Shubalananda & His Band
What to Expect
We are thrilled to welcome Shubalananda Saraswati & his band to The Nest for our very first Kirtan—a beautiful opportunity to gather in one of yoga’s most ancient and joyful practices. What is Kirtan? Kirtan is a traditional practice of Bhakti Yoga—the yoga of love and devotion. Through music, mantra, and call-and-response chanting, we sing together—not to perform or because we need to have a “good” voice, but as a way of quieting the thinking mind and opening the heart. One voice begins a mantra, the group responds, and gradually something shifts. The repetition, rhythm, music, and energy of many voices coming together become a kind of moving meditation—joyful, powerful, and deeply nourishing. You are welcome to sing, sway, close your eyes, listen, or simply allow yourself to be carried by the experience. Shubalananda Saraswati is an American sadhu who has traveled devotedly since 1995, sharing his powerful, blues-rooted Kirtan as a loving offering to his Guru, his highest Self, and the communities he visits. His deep bhava—the heartfelt feeling of devotion—combined with his extraordinary musicianship creates an experience that is soulful, grounded, uplifting, and deeply alive. This is yoga beyond the poses. This is Bhakti—the yoga of the heart. And we are so excited to bring this beautiful, traditional yogic practice to The Nest. No Kirtan experience is necessary. No singing ability is necessary. All are welcome. Come as you are. Bring your voice, your presence, and your heart.
